Robert David Wright was born in New York, NY, but grew up and performed in local theaters in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1972, then worked as a stage actor and as an extra on movies in Houston and L.A.
He was later employed as a printer and free-lance graphic artist. He worked in the art department at Houston’s GULF PUBLISHING COMPANY before starting his own printing and graphics business. He owned and operated that business for four years.
R.D. worked as a bartender during the 1990’s. He was a manager at CODY’S, a high profile jazz club before leaving Houston in 1995.
With his wife Paula Pratt, R.D. moved to Canyon Lake, Texas, where he designed and built his own house. He worked in sales during this time. Afterward, they owned and operated an online jewelry business for eight years. Paula is a nationally published cartoonist.
R.D. began writing screenplays in 2004 and had numerous contest placements. In 2008 he won a Gold Remi Award in WORLDFEST HOUSTON for a horror script called ZOM. And in 2009, he won a Platinum Remi (1st Place) for a Horror/Western called LUCIFER’S BOUNTY.
In 2010, R.D. penned the horror short DIALING AMY. This gem, directed by Lexer Kadan, was screened in Austin's South-By-Southwest. Later that year DIALING AMY became one of the Top Five Shorts in Florida's Clearwater Film Festival.
