SYNOPSIS:
Wendy Weller is an arrogant, competitive, successful fertility doctor who only recognizes her patients by their vaginas...or sperm counts. (Face blindness? Or just extreme focus?) Her scam artist husband has just left her deep in debt and with a little parting gift. We find out at the end of the pilot episode that the least motherly woman on the planet is pregnant. Wendy desperately wants out of the fertility business that she used to love, but now she’s broke and pregnant and has to make money. She. Is. Stuck. As she struggles with the idea of motherhood, she starts to realize that the vaginas are attached to real people, and that her wacky co-workers and even her patients are like a dysfunctional family of sorts. Something she’s never really thought about. Wendy's foil is Andrea, the office manager. She sees and hears everything on both sides of the desk. She’s the voice of reason, the calm in the eye of the storm, and the thorn in Wendy’s side. In subsequent seasons we watch Wendy become a mother to someone who is a complete alien to her. But slowly she starts give birth to her own humanity and begins to open up to her quirky patients and become a sort of mother to her son...or daughter. She’s not entirely sure...
