ELECTRIC CITY

LOGLINE: An innocent thirteen year old fights in streets of the Electric City in an effort to save his fleeing family from a looming notice of eviction.

SYNOPSIS:

In 1993, Electric City finds itself in an economical decline. The power plant that once offered this small city growth, has downsized and taken the small population remaining downwards in it’s decline. As summer begins a broken family faces the beginning of the end. Tammy, a single mother, has battled fierce drug addiction as long as her three children have been alive, always on the losing side. However trying, she does her best to be there for her family. The oldest son Justin, was raised as the man of the house gaining his values from his surroundings. Synthia the middle child, knowingly or not, fills her desire for a father by following her mother’s dangerous foot steps. This struggling family centers around the young and innocent Brian, who will be forced to grow up in a matter of weeks. Upon receiving an eviction notice, all members of the family begin to drift towards their individual escape and survival plan. Brian takes it upon himself to keep his family from breaking and dividing. He begins to uncover the truths about the family he values dearly. With Justin being the father figure in his life, Brian follows him for guidance. Quickly adapting to Justin's lifestyle, Brian begins to earn money any way he can. Fighting desperately for his Mother's approval with cash, but Tammy pays it no mind when the pressure pushes her relapse over the edge. Though Brian struggles to find the support he is looking for at home, he takes solace in Electric City Comics where he hangs out with his Uncle. Neil is Brian's number one fan, the store is covered in drawings. Brian's talent, and escape of his own. When the plot thickens, Brian clings to the one thing he has known all along. Loving his family for who they are, not what they are. While Brian refuses to be down long, he matures almost over night. As Brian "comes of age" his determination begins to rub off on his siblings. Will it be enough to save the Coolidge family from throwing in the towel?
