Stephen Beitler is the co-founder of the Hollywood based Experimental Experiential Performing and Healing Arts (E.E.P.H.A.) collective WeAreEfflorescence. With Efflorescence, he has co-produced, directed, and performed in numerous full length evenings with dozens of artists, site-specific immersive theatre experiences, dance for film, circus, music, and experimental performance art that has taken him to theaters, orchestra houses, film screens, festivals, art galleries, museums, parks, bridges, and cultures all around the world. PRISM, Walk, Dances for the End of the World, Instruments of the Present Moment and many more pieces that are constantly in process were all born out of this work.
His performance exploration took him to the worlds of theater, circus, and avant-garde opera. Most notably; Efflorescence’s film Dances for the End of the World was accepted into 12 international film festivals, Instruments of the Present Moment was shown at The Hammer Museum and continues to develop, PRISM opened to critical acclaim, he performed circus at Burning Man, LIB, and Cosmic Carnival, was Jameson on a motorcycle in Hopscotch a mobile Opera (and the documentary of the same name) with The Industry LA, Palleas in a box in Palleas et Melisande with The Cleveland Orchestra, Fire Dancer/Soloist/Belarmin/Barbarini in Galileo with The Industry LA, The Dancer in the promo for Young Ceasar with The LA Phil, Nix in Tim at Atwater Theater, and in War of the Worlds with the LA Phil.
This constant process of artistic experimentation has garnered critical attention over the years; “virtuosically performed by Stephen Beitler.” – The New Yorker “showstopping” – LA Weekly “intoxicating” –TGTB, to name a few. His artistic voice and ability to be of service continues to develop with his work with FreeYogaTV and contemplative practices and their effects on the creative process and our life experience.
