About Marisa

Marisa Forrest is an LA transplant by way of Atlanta (after a brief stint in New York as a baby). She has Northeastern sophistication and Southern charm, and, after a few drinks, the accent to prove it. Marisa has immersed herself in the entertainment industry as a creator and consumer, voraciously watching films and television in both a historical and popular context. In her world, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN and the “Housewives” peacefully coexist. After beginning her career as a development executive, Marisa recently had the epiphany that screenwriting is her true calling. She is extraordinarily proud that all six of her scripts (four features and two pilots) have been awarded in multiple competitions. Marisa is insatiably curious and adores informed decisions, great punchlines, and Diet Dr. Pepper.

CLOSER TO FINE Drama CLOSER TO FINE: LADY BIRD meets CATCHER IN THE RYE – As she wavers between championing individuality and seeking acceptance, a 15-year-old girl acts out but fails to recognize that her behavior may have very serious consequences.  A semi-accurate recollection of the writer's adolescence.

KUDZU Budget: $1M - $5M | Thriller Horror KUDZU: CHILDREN OF THE CORN meets SHERRYBABY – A recovering addict must rescue her estranged son from an “orphanage,” which is actually a front for a sinister evangelical cult that turns children into murderous criminals.

SKYFOXES Budget: $30M+ | Action Comedy SKYFOXES: TOP GUN meets OCEAN'S 8 - A former Navy pilot-turned-plane thief recruits an all-female crew to steal a US fighter jet for international gangsters.

STRIPPED Drama LOGLINE: After being disbarred, a hotshot Houston attorney returns to her hometown and learns that she has inherited a strip club. ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK in a strip club.

THE ENTERPRISE Drama Crime THE ENTERPRISE: In 1982, Atlanta's head crime boss uses his top barbecue joints to front his drug empire and evade a federal prosecutor in a city rife with corrupt politics, racial tension, and a distinctly idiosyncratic culture. A Southern-fried SOPRANOS meets A MAN IN FULL inspired by true events.

DADDY ISSUES Budget: $10M - $30M | Family Comedy DADDY ISSUES: MR. MOM meets 9 TO 5 – A single, stay-at-home dad must navigate the social and cultural challenges of re-entering the workforce.
