After getting double crossed it appears there is no way out, but for these two it just means it will take a little longer for them to get away Scott Free.

SYNOPSIS:

Two of my good friends from North County San Diego; ALEX and LEO had been the best of childhood friends and grew up to be business partners. Alex was a genius with acquisitions and sales, Leo was brilliant with finance and business strategies.

Both worked tirelessly turning their business into a small empire. Just after I met them, they mutually decided they reached their goals, it’s time to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Ending the active business, splitting assets and relinquishing their regular responsibilities really changed the dynamics their association. Similar to empty nest syndrome, their relationship became complicated and they ended up going their separate ways.

Always a great athlete and adrenalin junky Alex left Leucadia and pursued a professional thrill seeker career, living a decadent life in the public eye while enjoying worldwide celebrity status.

Staying in Leucadia after the business split, Leo moved on, continued his conservative financial ways, got married, had kids and lead a quiet family life out of the limelight.

Fast forward, several years later after burning through millions Alex is broke and decides to contact some old business associates to make some cash but quickly discovers things don’t go well without Leo’s business savvy and Alex ends up in some serious trouble.

Did I forget to tell you this story takes place in the 80’s, in the sleepy little town of Leucadia, north of San Diego where Alex and Leo were very successful and substantial drug dealers?

Thriving on the danger of traveling with huge amounts of cash to South America, Alex’s expertise was navigating the deadly world of drug Cartels. They followed their precisely crafted strategic plans negotiating, purchasing and transporting tons of Marijuana to USA.

Alex and Leo were a finely tuned team.

Leo parleyed their ill-gotten gains into legal tender his business acumen transformed drug profits into several exclusive restaurants that were perfect for laundering their cash, transforming it into real estate worth millions of dollars.

So, not wanting to involve Leo in this embarrassing financial mess, Alex goes it alone and arranges a transaction with an old “friend”, (and Nemesis?) Cartel Boss CARLITO BONINO.

But, the deal goes terribly wrong and Alex loses the Cartel’s money. Execution would be Carlito’s normal response for this kind of failure, but being a sporting man and because of their history Carlito gives Alex a mulligan and an option to avoid death.

The CIA wants arrange a drug transaction through Carlito, he’s never dealt with them. By using Alex to implement the deal Carlito will be insulated from any unexpected pitfalls. But there’s one huge problem, Carlito will only commute the death sentence if Alex’s former partner is involved.

It’s important to adapt and change operational strategies but Leo had one ironclad rule, his identity will never be known. After a decade in the drug trade his identity is still a mystery.

Taking advantage of Alex’s situation, Carlito will be utilizing the best drug traffickers he’s known to deal with the CIA and he’ll finally meet Alex’s legendary partner. But regardless, it’s a win-win for Carlito. If Alex’s partner won’t participate he’s justified taking Alex’s life.

Needless to say when Alex showed up out of the blue asking Leo to do a drug deal exposing his identity, well, it didn’t go well. If Leo says he won’t help… Alex is dead, if he says he will, Leo’s life changes dramatically forever and his family will be in certain danger.

Since parting ways they hadn’t spoken, the split was amicable but they hadn’t spoken for a reason. Leo was in love with Alex and though she had loved Leo since they were in grade school she wasn’t ready for the white picket fence life that Leo wanted.

Alex concealed the depth of her hurt, never allowing her vulnerability to be exposed; she crushed her emotions by succumbing to her adrenalin addiction, performing dangerous athletic feats and reveling in the rush being in the spotlight.

Leo had learned Alex was loosely connected to normalcy when they were kids Leo loved that she had the balls to test herself. Even though her risk taking scared the crap out of him, Alex afforded him the luxury of safety and Leo tethered Alex to reality.

Leo grudgingly agrees to participate and together again these two professionals will pull off what Carlito thought an impossible deal. Alex and Leo best the CIA and get away Scott Free.

Alex’s debt is paid, right?

Not so fast…. Carlito has always been enamored with Alex, the way she stays one-step ahead him, though she’s a woman he respects her prowess and he's so impressed with Leo’s talent Carlito decides to rescind his deal with Alex. Seeing the talent these two have for completing impossible transactions, the Peruvian drug lord and CIA want him to work for them and if Leo refuses they will eliminate his wife and kids.

Alex and Leo are to continue their public lives as usual. They’ll be contacted when their services are needed. Living covert lives working with the underworld will become an insurmountable task for these two; even for Leo, figuring a way out of this situation will probably be impossible.

Except, impossible to Leo only meant it would take a little longer to find a solution.

Impossible to Alex just means it will be more satisfying when they get away Scott Free...
