About Deriq

Started my writing in HipHop music and evolved to short stories then up to screenplays. Still dropping beats for movies and commercials.

Here is a short synopsis of a short I’ve written.

“Black Matters”
A klan member is married to his wife. They have a child with an African disease, he filed for divorce claiming his wife lied to him about her origin. In court the judge determines that the man has African heritage. The discovery encourages the man to Unsuccessfully attempt suicide. In the hospital, the doctors tell the man he may never see again. In his hospital room a young black genius suffering from appendicitis has just had surgery. The man and the black genius get to know one another and become friends. After a time the man heals and is able to see. When he enters his room he sees a black man and his wife and a young black teen. The young genius introduces the man to his parents. The man sees life differently from that day forward.
