Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, a recently retired single mother must survive mortal dangers that change her life forever.
A newly retired psychologist, Monroe Marquis, seems to have an outwardly perfect life until her son, Nate, bails at the last minute from a planned Alaskan trip with his mom for an out-of-state job. After Nate moves out, Monroe struggles with loneliness and loss. Determined to reclaim governance over her life, she goes-for-it travels to Alaska, plans a two-day hike on a popular trail in hopes of photographing the Northern Lights.
The backpacking trip goes horribly wrong when Monroe has a hiking accident and is unable to navigate back to the trail. While journeying farther into an unforgiving wilderness to the unprepared. She has a nasty encounter with a trio of ruthless brothers and wild animals.
Near-death, she is found by Jack who also took to the wilderness and had problems of his own—he's hunted by men who believe in "an eye for an eye".
This unlikely couple is forced to ride out the winter in a remote cabin.
