By Chelsea Rivera

GENRE: Horror, Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a superficial wellness influencer starts exhibiting signs of demonic possession, she must outrun a powerful televangelist who is convinced she is past the point of no return.

SYNOPSIS:

When superficial wellness influencer, Esmerelda (Es), starts exhibiting signs of demonic possession, she suddenly has something more important to care about than her follower count. Desperate for help, she turns to her estranged, childhood best friend, Sal, a former Jew for Jesus who knows the ins and outs of all things religion. Sal hesitantly agrees to help her and they set out to find a remedy.

They seek counsel from a variety of spirtual guides but no one can help them. Suddenly, Es and Sal find themselves being lured by the siren-like voices of a Christian guitar circle. Before they know it, they're standing before the trendiest church in Los Angeles, Mountain Hymn. Sal quickly gets separated from Es, who is brought inside to meet famous televangelist, Greg Goggins.

Pastor Greg tells Es she must be baptized to which she hesitantly agrees. Alone and scared in a baptism tank with Pastor Greg, Es becomes uncomfortable and her dark side emerges. Using super-strength she throws Pastor Greg across the room and escapes.

Es and Sal make a run for it, finding refuge at The Satanic Temple where Doug, Sal's cousin and a risk-averse Satanist, welcomes them inside. But their time at The Satanic Temple is cut short when the hot Christians arrive.

Es and Sal hightail it to Sal's apartment where Es's condition worsens. Sal tries in vain to help but once Es loses consciousness, a desperate Sal calls Pastor Greg.

Pastor Greg arrives and begins an exorcism. But it quickly turns deadly when he tries to kill Es. Together, Es - now awake - and Sal fight off Pastor Greg and he flees. Es and Sal then get into an argument about their shortcomings and Es leaves. Es, weak and alone, is immediately kidnapped.

Meanwhile, Sal gets a knock at the door. She opens it up to find Neil, Es's recovering alcoholic dad, who is looking for Es. After getting a tip about Es’s abduction from an ally in Pastor Greg's crew, Sal and Neil set out to save Es.

Sal, Neil, and Doug arrive at Es's location only to be immediately captured and tied up alongside Es. Pastor Greg tells a very confused Es that he must kill her because she is evil incarnate. Pastor Greg demands that Neil explain what's going on to his daughter. Terrified, Es looks to her dad for answers. Neil tearfully admits that Es’s absent mother was none other than Satan, making Es the antichrist.

Es and Neil share a tender moment but it's cut short when Pastor Greg shoots Neil in the chest. A devastated Es tries to kill Pastor Greg but before she gets the chance, he shoots her dead.

Es wakes up in hell and finally meets Satan, who is surprisingly delightful. Satan tells Es that she can either stay in hell or go back to earth to save her loved ones. The only catch is: if she goes back, she must go back as the antichrist. Es decides to step into her role as the antichrist and return to earth.

Back on earth, we pick up where we left off. In full antichrist mode, Es frees Sal and Doug and a fight sequence commences that ends in Pastor Greg’s death. Es then uses her powers to save Neil and everyone escapes unscathed.

A year later, Es is living a happy, fulfilled, authentic life for the first time ever. Acutely aware that the end of times is near, she appreciates every moment and cherishes every person she knows. She has changed for the better.
