Actress-turned-filmmaker, Rebecca Ann Bentley is a queer, neurodivergent & disabled director, writer & producer based in Melbourne, Australia. Her short films have screened at festivals worldwide, including Stepping Out, which played at Santa Monica International Film Festival 2023.
Rebecca’s drama feature film directorial debut, Kill Me, Heal Me, about violence against men, which she also wrote, co-produced, edited and starred as the co-lead is in post-production. Roc Chen, who has worked for major film studios such as DreamWorks, Disney and Universal, composes the music.
In 2019, Rebecca had three seizures within 24 hours and got diagnosed with epilepsy. Rebecca creates feature films and TV shows with strong, disabled protagonists who defy stereotypes and refuse to let their disability define them, drawing from her own experiences of discrimination.
Rebecca is in development of her next drama feature film, Finding the Light, which is set across the Great Ocean Road and raises awareness about autism and depression.
Rebecca's passions include making film/TV sets more accessible, spreading awareness about invisible disabilities, and spoiling her FIV rescue cat, Garfield.
