"Refreshing take on the alien/government conspiracy story. Very much of "The X-Files", but you found a way to be excitingly original. Dialogue is precise and perfect. Characters are sympathetic and genuine. Really well done!" -- Cinequest Reader comments.

Josh, a young college student, celebrates an engagement dinner with his fiancé Amy in Topanga Canyon. But when he wakes up in the morning he discovers she is dead.

He has no idea what happened. But the police are not buying his story. LAPD homicide detective Matt Steel takes over the case and runs into one of his old flames, Emily Mist, a tabloid photojournalist.

Although Matt is a hard-nosed detective, Emily slowly starts to present evidence to him that the murder is more bizarre than he at first thought. Through hypnotism and physical discovery (a tiny brain implant), Matt and Emily start their way down a dark and treacherous path. Traces of evidence point to a fantastic occurrence the night of the murder. It turns out that Amy was abducted by gray aliens who simply appeared through the walls and left without a trace. They wiped Josh’s memory which is why he is clueless.

Matt is reluctant to follow this line of reasoning but as the evidence mounts, he can’t get it out of his head. Then his boss tells him that the case is closed, that Amy Johnson’s father a judge, does not want anybody investigating what happened.

Matt and Emily try to convince Judge Johnson that they should be allowed to continue to look into the murder of his daughter. But Matt’s continued interest causes someone to hire a hit man to take him out. They pursue more clues with John Lear, the son of the famous William Lear, and he takes them down the path toward the 1947 Roswell crash, MJ-12, Greer, Forestal, etc.

Soon Matt and Emily’s bizarre search leads them to Sedona Arizona. The clues keep piling up. Their lives are in danger. Back home someone kills Judge Johnson and they frame Josh for the murder. Matt now knows this is getting very serious.

They finally seek refuge at an out-of-the-way ranch deep in the southwest only to realize that they are sitting at the gateway to a covert underground alien base near Dulce, New Mexico. Their host appears to be an amiable rancher, Breakwater. When the discussion turns to alien artifacts, Breakwater agrees to show them the now abandoned base and put all the silly alien speculation to rest once and for all. The classic conspiracy cover-up.

But reality crosses over into the bizarre when Matt realizes he’s being mind-warped by the aliens. In the end, he and Emily, with some extra assistance, overcome the mental forces and are able to overtake and destroy the alien occupiers. But not before the mysterious MJ-12 tells them what the secret plan is that was established almost 50 years ago.
