I'm an aspiring screenwriter, working on the third draft of my first feature-length screenplay. The first two drafts were both analyzed by a professional screenwriter. I'm a good writer but inexperienced. I'm looking for a screenwriting partner at a similar skill level to swap scripts and help each other out (I'm not a big fan of writing groups). I'm also looking for a good screenwriting coach. I subscribe to Blake Snyder's Save The Cat method (mostly because it fits perfectly with my love of organization and outlining). I fully intend to become successful, make great money, and have fun with the process.
My current screenplay is a sci-fi/adventure thriller, my next one (just outlined for now) is a psychological thriller. Much to my surprise, I love writing action and I'm good at it. I dislike most action movies because character is usually non-existent, so I think character-driven action will end up being my go-to.
As for the non-writer side, I've been in the military for 18 years and I'm a marine engineer. I'm returning to college this fall (after a very long break) so the next few years will hopefully end with a master's degree and several more screenplays in my repertoire.
Dark Island Budget: $10M - $30M | Thriller When her ship goes down in the Bermuda Triangle, a sailor is thrust into a strange, new world where danger lurks at every turn, escape seems impossible, and her strongest allies may become her worst enemy.
