About Benny

Benny Bekro, born in the French speaking country Ivory Coast, West Africa, is an aspiring model and actor from Newark, NJ. As an honor roll student, Benny took all advanced placement classes and led his team to the championship as captain. Benny attended Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in economics. His strong focus, work ethic, and upbringing allowed him to do so while playing basketball and making it on the dean’s list twice. After college, Benny realized his passion was not in the financial industry, but in the entertainment industry. He has been involved in major modeling productions during New York Fashion Weeks and many shows all over the east coast. Benny was able to break into the modeling scene due to his exotic looks and took off after his first big break. The major modeling productions he has been blessed to be chosen for run the gamut: New York Fashion Week, and several fashion shows all over the East Coast such as Atlanta, Hyattsville, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Delaware, Newark, New York City and Boston. He has walked the runway for Lisa Raye, Carl Thomas, Dramatik Fanatik, Ray Vincent, Rocawear, BET, the United Nations, and Black Men/Women Magazine. He was also able to play a small role on the major blockbuster “Rise of the Dark Knight”, main role in “Teno” by Zara Gretti (an African pop star), Brisa (a European pop sensation) and several internationally distributed magazines such as Fashion Avenue News, Black Tie Magazine and Black Sapphire Magazine which is owned by 50 Cent (rap artist). He was selected to be one the top five romantic book cover male leads in the country, therefore breaking the mold and bringing forth a different dynamic for African American male models. These books with his image will be reproduced in many local libraries throughout the United States. As one of the east coast top model he is creating a niche market which was not there before, by stepping out and loving the skin he is in. His dark skin, exotic looks, locks, slight accent and hard work ethic has proven that being different can at times make you feel like an outcast, but it can never truly exclude you from success if you fight for what you believe in. After taking a break from the runway and acting to work on his entrepreneurial spirit, he is now focused on different things to expand his brand. He is working on a clothing line, calendar line, products, and much much more. “I will still be doing print work, commercials, music videos, runway, and some acting; but nowadays I’m focused on expanding my brand in a way that will allow me to create and sell products after modeling”.
