About The

The Bubble and Squeak Actor's Collective run weekly pay-as-you-go classes, every Monday evening, 7pm. Our unique service is two-fold.

1) It is for professional actors who wish to keep sharp and meet new people from the industry.

2) It is for people seriously looking to break into the profession. We specialize in helping crew and production take the leap into acting.

Our workshops/showcases have so led to over 20 offers of representation (from agents such as Felix de Wolfe, Elaine Murphy and Billboard), several feature films, two internet series, plus many short films, showcases and a variety of other professional work. In 2009 we converted a warehouse in Hackney into a theatre and performed our first showcase there, giving opportunities to actors and new writers, such as Tommy Kearney (Madonna and Me).

Each drop-in class is £20 for two and a half - three hours hours - working with very experienced professionals. No money is asked for up-front - if you attend you pay.

We also hold talks given by film-makers, agents and casting directors and invite writers to bring us their film scripts and plays to work on. The list of people taking us up on this is impressive:

Greg Loftin - Director/writer of Saxon (European Independent Feature Film of the Year, 2008)
Kathleen Hutchison - Exec Producer of Holby City, EastEnders, etc
Barry Ryan - MD of Free@Last TV, and Two Queens TV (with Martina Cole)
Caley Powell - Casting Director and Producer at Flitter Films
John McDonald - Award winning novelist and screenwriter of forthcoming feature 'Tribe'
Sam Holland - Writer/director of Zebra Crossing (European Independent Feature Film of the Year 2009)
Daniel Tatarsky - Billboard Personal Management
Gary Holding - Feature Producer at Loud Mouse Films
New Town Films - Producers of feature films 'Community', and 'This Is Essex'
Lennie Varvarides - MSFT Personal Management

We cover theatre and screen acting, advocating an intensely practical approach that draws on many theorists, with an emphasis on emotional truth and integrity of approach. We also cover the basics of being in the profession - networking, photos, CVs, letters, etc. and help to de-mystify the whole process of getting work.

The workshop was founded three years ago by actor/writer/director/producer Paul McNeilly.
