About John

John Todd, a native of the Carolinas, received his training at the prestigious North Carolina School of the
Arts. Taking that training into the world, John joined the longest running Broadway show, The Phantom of
the Opera and as a lead performer in the original cast, of the Tony Award winning musical Movin' Out.
While working with Robert Zemekis on the animated film A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey, John
discovered his passion for directing. This passion led John, with his unique and innovative style, to directing
and choreographing numerous commercials, industrials, musicals, television and stage shows. Recent
acclaimed projects include; A Year of Living Dangerously at Feinstein’s/54 Below in NYC, West Side Story,
Kiss Me Kate and Company for the Athens Epidaurus Festival, and multiple episodes of Days Of Our Lives
for NBC. StageSceneLA named John, Choreographer of the Year for his work on West Side Story, Kiss Me
Kate and The Music Man. Variety has acknowledged his creative direction on more than 25 Red Carpet
Premieres for Buena Vista Entertainment, Lucas Film, Disney and Marvel Studios. In addition, he has
choreographed commercials for IKEA, Scope with Ryan Seacrest and Ray-Ban: musicals, And The World
Goes Round, Sweet Smell Of Success, Annie Get Your Gun, The Music Man, Kiss Me Kate, Sunset
Boulevard, Company, Bells Are Ringing, Anyone Can Whistle, Jasper In Deadland, Falsettos, The Full
Monty, Bronies, The Musical!, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Gypsy. Film and television credits
include; Ratched, Will & Grace, SMILF, Saving Mr. Banks, Mad Men, About A Boy, Ronna and Beverly,
Marvel's Agents of Shield, Last Tycoon, Bourbon Street, Days of Our Lives, As the World Turns, Sex and
the City, Law and Order, Jack the Giant Slayer, The Muppets, Gnomeo and Juliet, Alpha and Omega,
Jackass Number Two, A Christmas Carol, Sironia, Spells (with John Lithgow) and the movie musical
Samantha Spade Ace Detective.
Having had the privilege of working with dance and theater legends such as Agnes DeMille, Martha
Graham, Nacho Duato, Melissa Hayden, Suzanne Farrell, and Twyla Tharp as well as the celebrated
directors Robert Zemeckis and Paul Feig, has been the catalyst on being well versed in all forms of the Arts,
which John continues to utilize in his own career and shares with the next generation of performing artists.
