About Darryl

Darryl has over 30 years of experience in miniature effects, storyboards, sets and designs on three Star Trek films, Iron Man, The Aviator, Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, I Robot, Live Free or Die Hard and Flags of our Fathers among several others.

Over the past 5 years, Darryl has shifted his career to writing, directing and producing and has had one feature film produced by Nu Image Entertainment, two scripts optioned by AMI Productions and the Mutual Film Company. As a writer-director-producer, Darryl and his producing partner, Erica Jordan, created a fictional documentary called "Dearly Departed" - shot as if the crew took a camera into the afterlife and interviewed the spirits of people who've passed on to get their insights on life after death.

"Dearly Departed" is now being distributed by Gaiam TV and Amazon.

Their second feature, "First Contact" is a documentary that tells the true story of a UFO encounter that led to the channeling of an extraterrestrial being. "First Contact" will be released in September, 2016.

Zia Films is currently developing other films and TV series in in the sci-fi, supernatural and horror genres, as well as asch-fi horror Halloween attraction called BIOSFEAR slated to open in Los Angeles in October, 2017.

  • UFOs: Insights from the Source

UFOs: Insights from the Source (2014)
Video (Short) Producer This video was produced as a demo for a unique documentary (or perhaps a series) about our extraterrestrial visitors. With all the documentaries being made about UFOs, there are still a great many questions that we humans can only speculate on: Where are they from? Why are they here? How do they cross the vast distances of space without aging or dying? And many more. The documentary exemplified by this demo was envisioned to answer these questions more directly. This demo was made with a cash outlay of less than a thousand dollars, although much effort was expended in post production to make it look more expensive. Because full-feature animation software was not available, the visual effects created for this demo are representative only. And a little fun was had with a few of them. With a real budget, the sophisticated animation and effects this project deserves could be developed.
