About Sardia

Sardia Robinson is a trained, actress, comedian, writer, and humanitarian. Born and raised in a poverty ravaged Jamaican tenement, Sardia has been overcoming obstacles and proving that no dream is impossible her entire life. Eventually moving with her mother to the US, Sardia increased her forward momentum, becoming a proud US citizen and attending Chicago's Columbia College, where she earned a theater degree. She interned at the legendary Goodman Theatre alongside Chuck Smith and August Wilson.

Sardia wasted no time in moving to Hollywood and dominating comedy and theater stages. Sardia was selected to perform her infectiously hilarious stand-up comedy act to open for the R&B group The Whispers at the Microsoft Theatre, earning praise as "someone to definitely watch."Sardia wrote and stars in her award-winning, one-woman show FROM A YARDIE TO A YANKEE, the gripping, gut-wrenching true story of her courageous life journey from the murderous streets of Kingston, Jamaica to the deadly consequences of Chicago's drug wars. With her captivating stage presence, dazzling smile, and sovereign wit, Sardia is changing the way the world sees the effect of the Jamaican experience on stage and screen.

American audiences raved about FROM A YARDIE TO A YANKEE at New York's United Solo Theatre Festival, the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, and the Hollywood Fringe Festival, where Sardia was recognized with the festival's "Innovative Women in Theatre" award. After her world tour of FROM A YARDIE TO A YANKEE, Sardia has been deeply affecting audiences and earning praise from LA to New York and from London to The Bahamas.

Currently, while collaborating on the screenplay for FROM A YARDIE TO A YANKEE, Sardia continues her humanitarian work, including offering performances and theatre workshops to keep hopes and dreams alive for the poorest of Jamaica's school children.
