An amnesiac determined to find her missing husband before his twin brother takes over their company is propelled into a labyrinth of corruption, betrayal and shamanism that tests the limits of love and what it means to be alive.
Set against the backdrop of the DAPL protests at Standing Rock, a developer’s plan to build a hotel in a California mountain community is threatened when a geotechnical firm owned by a local tribe member determines land improvements will destroy a tunnel system linking to a sacred cavern on the adjacent Indian reservation, irrevocably damaging pictographs of unknown age.
At the center of this supernatural thriller are the key figures of the development company and their family: Protagonist Diana, an interior designer married to Warren, architect and general partner; his twin Dan, the firm’s money man and limited partner, and Diana’s former lover; Sherriff Barnes, Diana’s mother; Nicki, Diana and Warren’s adopted Native American teenager, and Nicki’s great-grandmother, a medicine woman practiced in the art of astral travel, whose healing powers are called forth to restore the balance.
