About Anthoula

Actor, Producer, Writer, Host, Voice Over Artist, Dog-Lover & Proud New Yorker! SAGAFTRA & AEA

I was recently cast to play a character who was “attractive, vivacious, edgy, bursting with the desire to grab life!” This describes me perfectly! Passionate about everything and always on the go, I’m eagerly pursuing my acting career. I am a true artist at heart, even though I took my time (three careers) to get here.

Having earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration at Baruch College and a Masters degree in Secondary Education at Queens College, I was an account executive in the ad world and a high school ESL and English literature teacher. Then I had a career in politics/government and worked with former Governor George Pataki as a Community Affairs assistant, navigating ethnic minority communities of NYC through government bureaucracy and representing the Governor at events across the city.

After September 11th, 2001, I worked at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation on the rebuilding of downtown effort. In time, I knew I needed a change because I felt my creative side was undernourished. As a fluke, I acted in a community theatre production and was hooked! With an insatiable hunger to learn more about the craft, I studied with amazing teachers at HB Studio, William Esper Studio, Terry Schreiber Studio, Primary Stages, with Ted Sluberski and now with Scott Freeman. Grateful to all of them, I continue to look for ways to tune my instrument and make a difference in the lives of others. For this reason, I decided to write an autobiographical solo play called “What Will People Think?”. I have performed sold-out shows at festivals in NYC, namely the Solo Plus One festival, the One Woman Standing Emerging Artists Festival, and the prestigious UnitedSolo festival at Theatre Row off Broadway.

Being of service has always been very important to me. I am so proud of the JaM Foundation for Life, a non profit I created in memory of my loving brothers, John and Michael Katsimatides. I support mental illness awareness and suicide prevention, for Michael. As a board member of the National September 11th Memorial and Museum, I volunteer my time to ensure that the site is a place of respectful remembrance and hope, for John.

An overzealous Capricorn, born in Astoria, Queens on January 15th, I share my birthday with my father and my dog Smokey! I dedicate my website to my two beautiful brothers and wonderful dad who are my guardian angels.
