About Andrew

Born and raised in Yellowknife, Canada, Andrew Silke studied digital video production technologies at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta as well as film studies and psychology at the University of Alberta.

After producing numerous short-films in 2009, and being awarded Best Film for his student short thriller, 'Bellwether', Andrew began working in television in 2009, in a production and post-production capacity for reality programs, such as 'Rodeo - Life on the Circuit' on History Channel and 'X-Weighted' on Slice Network.

In 2010, Andrew focused his attention on feature films, directing his first feature length 'Love/Hate' for Vancouver/Edmonton-based production company, Liquid Trout Productions. In 2012, 'Love/Hate' received a broadcast license on Canada's Super Channel for an 18 month term as well as a handful of nominations from AMPIA (The Alberta Motion Picture Industry Association), including Best Director and Best Film.

His latest short 'AMELIA' has garnered international attention, set to premiere at the Festival de Cannes as part of Telefilm Canada's program 'Canada: Not Short on Talent' in May 2012.
