Liam Alex Heffron was born and grew up in Moygownagh - a rural village in County Mayo, Ireland. He qualified with Distinctions as Electronic Engineer (from GMIT Galway) and with his thesis project won the 1996 and 1997 NFEA award and featured twice on RTE's Late Late Show with his patented GASEC - advanced toxic gas detection system. He was a finalist in the 1997 Ernst & Young / Galway Chamber of Commerce Business Award and received a Merit distinction in the Shell LiveWire Young Business Start Up awards in 2000. He founded and managed several technology companies and has worked with international corporations, civil authorities and the police in designing their data - video surveillance systems. He also holds two patents and is a member of MENSA. While in college Liam also trained at the Galway Film Centre in Film and Video Media Studies and later studied Drama at the Galway Theatre Company with Lily Hill becoming a regular stage actor and director on the Galway circuit. He has written and directed two stage plays, the acclaimed social drama The Tinker's Blade (2006 & 2007) and the sell out comedy 1798 - The Year of the French (2008). That same year Liam made his screen debut with The Summer of the Flying Saucer, starring Robbie Sheehan and has gone on to feature in several Film and TV dramas including the award winning Mobs America, The Hardy Bucks, Fair City and Ros na Run. Liam set up his production company 919 Films to focus on his Film and TV projects and his work has featured at over 14 international film festivals. He also has produced and contributed to current affairs productions at TV3 (Host presenter) and RTE (documentary contributor) as well as his own Averity TV interview web series. Liam is a self taught historian and antiquarian and advocates for social and environmental reform organisations including his native Moygownagh Community Council, The Moy Valley Protection Group (MayoSpin) and Irish Political Reform Groups. His efforts have been seen as controversial as his satirical political announcement of a new Unionist party (DUP.ie) agitating for the Republic of Ireland to rejoin the UK led to death threats from Republican extremists and necessitated police protection and a shut down of the website where it featured. Liam's first Hollywood co-production - the comedy series Breaking Hollywood - is due for release in April 2015 along with the iconic "Top of the Rock" film which he stars in. This film is based on the famous 1932 "lunch in the sky" photograph of workmen sitting on a beam during the building of the Rockefeller Center. Bringing it back to his roots, Liam is writing a book on social history based on his many years archive research and his personal conversations with older people living in Mayo.
