My day job is Director of a multi-million dollar, higher-education suite of online professional map development programs at a top-ten American research university.
I'm a professor. A researcher. I specialize in map design and political geography. I have my doctorate in the first, and a master's in the second.
I've published an academic book on map design and another on Human Geography. Oh, and a bunch of academic articles no one wants to read. Not even me!
My students end up working at Uber, Apple Maps, and Mapbox, creating the maps we all use to get around Tinseltown and flyover country.
They also track your every movement for the CIA, FBI, and cellphone carriers (or the main contractor for all three, Booz Allen Hamilton).
And yes, these students can actually see which side of the bed you sleep on in your room every night based on where you charge your phone. (Note: turning off Location Services doesn't help. So charge your phone in the kitchen, people!)
But I digress...
The reason I'm on Stage 32 is because I'm not so passionate about my day job.
All I spend my time thinking and caring about is my secret life -- that of a screenwriter.
I write coming-of-age comedy-dramas, family dramas, children's television, and short horror. Eclectic mix, I realize, but fun.
Thanks for reading this. Happy to add you to my network. And charge your phone in your kitchen!
