Left by his cheating wife, an emotionally dented reporter must confront himself and his own convictions as he struggles to bounce back and rebuild his life.
SYNOPSIS:
FRANK MORALES is a 35 year-old strait laced, law abiding, freelance reporter working for a San Francisco cyber newspaper. As a third generation Latino, he is conservative and supports a strong hand against illegal immigration. One day he finds himself adrift and alone after his cheating wife leaves him for someone else. At the insistence of his friends, Frank dives head first into the dating scene, only to learn he’s too rusty to play that game. That’s until he starts to court 28 year-old LUPE, a new waitress who caught his eye at the neighborhood coffee shop he frequents. But Lupe has a secret, or two. She is in the US illegally, and she has PANCHITO, a 12 year-old son in her native El Salvador who has decided to join her and cross the border illegally on his own. All of this goes diametrically against everything he was taught growing up. As shaken as Frank is by the news, he falls even deeper for Lupe, who is terrified at the thought of her little boy walking across the border on his own. When Frank learns she has been detained and is about to be deported, he fears he may lose her forever, so he follows his heart and proposes to her. By doing so, he checkmates the immigration system which now must suspend all proceedings against her. So now Frank and Lupe are reunited with her son, and Frank feels like a complete man again, with the family he could have never had with his two-timing wife.
