GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

True story: A feisty, caring reading teacher with anger issues fighting school inequality has 24 hours to stop a Black 5th grader from a revenge crime against another teacher who abusively shames him for not being able to read, and by sharing with the boy a book on Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. transforms him and he in turn changes her life. Relevant for today as it shines a light on how Black and marginalized students face injustice and inequality in schools today, how nonviolence can overcome hatred and violence, and the impact teachers can have on bringing about equality and success for all students.
