Ryan Ashton majored in film and spent a good part of the 90's working as an independent filmmaker. His screenplay “Who’s Got the Girl” was a Nicholl fellowship quarterfinalist and he saw modest success on the festival circuit with his short film “The First Day.”
In 2000, Ryan moved into corporate life, and in 2005 he co-founded Great Basin Scientific a molecular diagnostics company which by 2018 had six FDA-approved tests and 150+ employees when it was destroyed by the trading of a predatory New York hedge fund. This felt like a sign. So, Ryan returned to his first love.
