Two indisputably independent women, three generations apart, try to team up for a quirky, fractious, yet touching, decades-old quest to find an unusual Dragon in its lair which has touched them both.
SYNOPSIS:
The Dragon’s Touch is a whimsical, intergenerational family romp woven around the true history of a De Havilland Dragon vintage aircraft, G-ADDI. It pits Jean, an aging but irrepressible, Liverpudlian expat who lives on Vancouver Island, against Valerie, her awkward, tempestuous, teenage grandniece – a reluctant visitor from London, England. Can this relationship survive?
Without children of her own, Jean looks forward to passing on her cherished family history to her adopted clan member, before it is too late. She is asked to take Valerie off the hands of the young lady’s harried, jet-setting parents for a few days. The stay is inadvertently extended by a call from Valerie’s father in England. Now, what to do with Valerie?
Despite their massive age gap, the disparate heroines must try to overcome their differences. They set out on an international quest triggered by their unrequited need for strong, loving family. With secretive motives which are unknown to each other, they embark on the expedition of their lives to find a de Havilland 84 Dragon called “The City of Cardiff”. This old bird has touched their family in the past. Could she still uplift the family fortunes?
Despite many risks, the wily family matriarch valiantly tries to rise to the challenge by embarking on a muddled quest for the old aircraft. She so wanted to fly on her when she was a girl. Might she yet?
With some mischievous scheming by new friends and family, can the two protagonists survive their quest and their tempestuous relationship in order to find their Dragon?
