About Haneef

My father built a movie theater, "Amber Cinema," in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1975.

Even though I grew up in a movie theater, I had no desire to be a filmmaker until I went to art school. My love of airbrushing led me to develop an interest in special effects and filmmaking.

Like all the dreamers who come to America to be part of the magic, I too came here to study film. I was accepted at AFI as a production design major but was not able to get the scholarship. She studied acting instead and was part of the three NAACP Theatre Awards-winning play "For the Love of Freedom", produced by Danny Glover’s Robey Theatre Company.

Finally, years of hard work were paying off when I was put on a two-year "wrongful" deportation proceeding just for being born in Pakistan. There was nothing wrong with my papers. They didn’t allow me to work, go to film school, or do anything else. It was crazy. I started to write to stay sane and ended up writing my very first feature-length spec script "Lethal Weapon 5".
.
After almost two years, the case was terminated. But they still made sure that I would go back to Pakistan. But miracles do happen, and I was able to stay here and pursue my film studies. But it was not easy; I had to start all over.

Writing and making short films pretty much saved me. Since then, I have written eight feature scripts and made a few short films.

My satirical comedy about terrorism, Pal-Queda," got to the second round at Sundance and the Austin Film Festival. "Pal-Queda" and my other sci-fi thriller project, "Terra Firma," were among the top ten selected scripts at two different WGFests in Los Angeles by the Writers Guild Foundation.

Right now, I'm learning about producing and using my art and design background to design two of my projects, "Attack of the Killer Rubber Duckies" and "Terra Firma."

"Dateman", my recent short film, was a fun project to work on in order to take a break from writing and get back into directing. It was an official selection of 14 festivals all around the globe. I am very grateful to the cast of "Dateman". It was fun working with them all. It is a miracle in itself how "Dateman" got made. Every second was fun.

Thank you!!!!

Each of the actors have been hand picked by 'The Master'. A dark, mysterious teacher who promises to teach them the ultimate secret to success. Without knowing it, the young faithful dreamers are set to the test of their lives. They are hypnotized, mentally and physically abused and brainwashed as The Master slowly steals away any human instinct and empathy from them and applies a strange animal behavior instead. He calls it his unique acting technique. But in spite of all their hopes, dreams and aspirations The Master is never planning on giving them the secret to success. He has his own dark agenda. He is the hungry wolf in the jungle waiting for the right moment to prey on little girls. Just like the fairy tale of 'Little Red Riding Hood'.
