After initiating a spell that resurrects a group of famous horror writers, a group of horror-obsessed friends must face off against some of the greatest horrors in society and literature.

SYNOPSIS:

A group of horror fans sit at their panel booth at a convention alone. Business as usual, until a package is left for MAX, containing a scavenger hunt where the winner gets a mysterious prize from famed writer CYFRIN AURELIAN. They must collect the items, but have only three weeks to do so before he visits their hometown of Salem, Mass. on Halloween.

Naturally, none of them are prepared. The day of the meet and greet, MAX, OLIVIA, DYLAN, KATIE, and FUNYUNS are used to the rut. They’re nothing special. But this could be their only opportunity: Abandon their rut and security for the high-risk high-reward, or stay where they’re at. They get excited when they realize that each item corresponds to their favorite writers.

As they collect the scavenger hunt items, we peer into their personal lives. MAX is a former pro athlete who lost his leg. DYLAN is a dropout who had to learn to survive. OLIVIA is a failed academic. KATIE is an underwhelming musician. FUNYUNS is a carefree genius who lacks ambition. They do this clinging on to the hope that this is their way out, others only to help a friend.

During the collection process, MAX meets AURELIAN, where AURELIAN organizes a location to examine the items. Everyone agrees to meet at the library, where AURELIAN brings in numerous candles, black bags, and runes. They bring in a PIG HEART, OLD PAPERS, CAT HAIR, A BAS RELIEF, and a TOWER REPLICA. Once together, the items GLOW and AURELIAN LEVITATES before the library EXPLODES.

In the wreckage, it’s revealed that AURELIAN is a dark sorcerer and has reanimated H.P. LOVECRAFT, MARY SHELLEY, BRAM STOKER, and EDGAR ALLAN POE, all of whom have god-like powers. As the world around them twists and changes, the REANIMATED WRITERS enter the world, releasing MONSTERS beyond comprehension on the unsuspecting town.

Broken in defeat, MAX and his friends must find a way to undo the curse and return to normal before the monstrous world becomes permanent.
