About Marcella

I'm a California native, now an expat living in Barcelona. Writing is my second career and I set out to learn the craft in 2016. While I started as a novelist, I'm now writing screenplays as well and loving this new artistic medium.

I focus on female driven plots and romance stories (comedy/drama) set in international locations. I have a unique perspective in storytelling, influenced by living abroad as an expat, as well as my extensive travel experiences. As a psychotherapist, I'm moved to write stories that examine the human condition and the society we live in--the challenges we face in the universal quest for happiness, love and a sense of belonging.

I'm committed to the ongoing learning process and the intense work it takes to not only create quality content, but move it through the arduous process to production.

I'm excited about this new path and the opportunity to network with other writers on this platform.

Set against the backdrop of Bali, the story follows the intertwined lives of Kate, Alexis, Isabella, and Shanti – four women in their fifties – who find themselves in the same sinking boat.  A poignant, sometimes hilarious, ultimately uplifting story about the power of friendship, self-discovery, and the quest to find happiness in the second chapter of life. Comps: "And Just Like That" meets "Eat, Pray, Love". A dramedy.
