An estranged daughter and her widower father stitch their relationship back together on a comedic road trip from Florida to New York. Think of Knit One as Vacation meets About Schmidt.

SYNOPSIS:

Sybil wants no part of her father, Nestor. He wants no part of her. They relish the thousand miles which keeps them apart. But the death of Sybil’s mother upsets their equilibrium. Nestor reluctantly agrees to leave Florida and move in with his sister, Fern, in New York. When Nestor’s two children refuse to fetch him, Fern threatens to reveal a secret each one carries in an effort to prod one of them to step up. Fern takes the bait, much to her dismay.

An incident between Sybil and Nestor 20 years ago strained their relationship beyond the breaking point. Each holds a simmering grudge against the other. Neither wants to overcome the estrangement. Truth is, neither could articulate the source of the incident. But now circumstances throw them together.

Nestor, who spent his life on the police force, comes across as laid back, but don’t test his patience. Sybil made her mark as a high strung soap opera director with anger issues. But in reality these two have more in common than either admits. Sybil inherited much of Nestor’s strong-willed personality, which explains their ongoing antagonism to each other.

The two bitch from the moment Sybil arrives in Florida, and on this low note, their road trip odyssey begins. Since Nestor won't fly. Sybil won't take a train. What's left? Nestor's aging car.

They roll through a series of comedic misadventures heading north. Nestor disappears, gets arrested and fakes a heart attack. The car breaks down. A rental is stolen. Money’s missing. The relationship between Dad and daughter strains even more if that's possible. Throw in the increasing likelihood Sybil will miss the promised date to return to work, jeopardizing her job.. When Nestor picks up Sybil's prowess for knitting along the way, a bond develops that not only unravels the two decades of mutual animosity, but also paves the way to beat the clock back to New York.
