About Aleisha

By the age of thirteen, Aleisha Brooks had already written over three hundred pages of poetry and lyrics, and wrote two children's books. At fifteen, she had dozens of stories, speeches, and had started a screenplay and a novel. After being turned away from mainstream publishing, she chose to advance her career on her own. By twenty-two, she had published several stories in niche magazines. By thirty, she had written and produced a few One-Act plays, some of which she turned into short films, and written her first screenplay and novel. She has self-published three novels, written eight screenplays. She has coached many writers from as young as 13 in her time as a volunteer in a group which helps at-risk youth ages 13-18, and to individuals as old at 70. Currently Aleisha is writing a new novel, new screenplay and co-writing an animated screenplay with her partner in South Africa. She continues to blog, write speeches and do public speaking engagements. She coaches writers, reads scripts and gives notes and also has a free video series for writers coming out soon.

Being in Sync (2006)
Film (short) by Barry C. Miller (Comedy and Music) Casting director DJ, Donny, Danny, and Dougie are former members of the musical group D4; a semi-popular boy-band that existed in the eighties. DJ, the lead singer of the band, is not happy with his life and secretly desires to have the band reunite. He also feels strongly that D4 was ahead of its time and is convinced of that because of the many boy-bands flooding the radio airwaves today. The other band members, however, have long since moved on: Donny is an IT Director, Danny is married with four small children, and Dougie is the mascot for a local restaurant. DJ is finally inspired to make a major life change after a strange music video style of a dream in which the band is back together. Upon waking, he quits his job within minutes of starting work for the day. As if a large weight has been lifted off his shoulders, DJ emphatically starts off on his quest to convince the other band-mates to reunite. Written by Barry C. Impact (2006)
Film (short) by German Alonso Writer, Script Supervisor Produced by Sandra Varona. In the summer of 2006, I participated in the 48 Hour Film Festival. It's a big contest held across the United States to write, produce and show a film (yes from script to screen) in 48 hours. You get together with a team and draw categories from a hat. You are given a prop, e.g. a rope, a line of dialog, and a character name. Then you select a category. Ours was "disaster." Enjoy our film, Impact. I stayed up all night with 2 others writing it. Then I stayed up all day and the next night helping to shoot it on the production crew. I assisted the director and the actors. Since my mother is a midwife, I helped one of the actresses in her scene to prepare. - Aleisha

They arrive and interrogate her. She's just finished a double shift at a hospital; there's a body in her flat. Did she kill him? She tries to explain. Film (short) by Esprit Films Writer, Director, Producer My second short I ever made and the first one over 10 minutes and with a large cast and crew. Filmed on location in Downtown, San Diego. This film brought me a lot of attention from the lookie-loos at Hooters across the street. It also got me attention from the San Diego Police. I had never before done a production of this size.
