Sandra, a sexually repressed woman in her thirties, much like her mother and her maiden aunt, encounters a guy at an office Christmas party in Greenwich Village to whom she is immediately attracted, and they split the party to have drinks together in a café. They strike up a conversation, and feelings deepen between them. Sandra phones her aunt – Lida – who lives alone in a cabin in the New York woods, asking if she might drive up to Aunt Lida’s to share the good news with her. But she encounters jealousy on the part of her aunt, who fears Sandra will leave her forever for this newfound love.
