Nick Wambugu

Nick Wambugu is an award-winning film director, producer and drone pilot. Born and raised in Nairobi.
Nick began his filmmaking career in 2015 while traveling in Italy with the Cinemadamare Film Festival. Since then, Nick has directed and produced 6 documentaries and 7 short films across Europe and Africa. He was the drone pilot for Academy Award nominee and Student Academy Award winner Watu Wote, a Kenyan-German short film about the Mandera bus attack.

In 2015, Nick won Best Director at the Kalasha Award for his short film Code of Silence. In 2018, his documentary Who Knows, which follows the lives of street slum dancers, was also nominated for the Kalasha Awards in the Best Short Documentary category.

Nick is passionate about telling human-centered narratives that shed light on different people around the world. He strives to make Folklore Films a lead content creator and aims to tell stories in the most creative, artistic and professional way possible.

Besides filmmaking, Nick enjoys hiking, traveling, and would like to try skydiving.
