THE PICTURE OF JONATHON LASLOW (FILMED)
By James Austin McCormick

GENRE: Mystery, Thriller
LOGLINE:

A bankrupt mill owner turns to a rich friend for help but soon wishes he hadn’t when he learns the terrible price he must pay in return.

SYNOPSIS:

A bankrupt factory owner visits an old, aristocratic friend, begging him for the money he needs to avoid complete ruin. His eccentric friend however is not quite the easy mark he’d hoped for but rather seems intent on playing a cat and mouse psychological game, one which will require the supplicant to prove his friendship in the most murderous manner.

This is a suspense/murder and sort of an homage to Oscar Wilde with a Roald Dahl twist thrown in. The period is deliberately ambiguous but is supposed to hint at the late 1920's. The script requires two interior locations (a study and a basement) and requires no effects other than a couple of gun shots.

A modern, updated version of the script has been made into a short film by the director and film maker, Mavis. D. Nobleman
