BOARD GAME OF LIFE

LOGLINE:

Nick is a hard-working man struggling to function with his family of four. After suffering a concussion, he wakes up on a beach with a man in white, playing a game where each move connects him with his troublesome past

SYNOPSIS:

Nick is doing the dishes when his wife, Elena comes in. They start arguing about the work around the house when his daughter, Mary, and son, Tom enter.

They all argue when Nick breaks a plate and silences them. They all start leaving that moment. Nick starts to follow but slips on the broken plate, hitting his head against the wooden table.

Wakes up on a beach with a man in white clothes, wanting them to play a game of chess so Nick’s thinking about his life issues can be clearer.

After the first move, Nick has a flashback and argues with his wife at home about how she doesn’t work and doesn’t have a job. It ends with Elena being granted freedom to search without Nick’s jealousy always tormenting where she was and what was she doing.

The second move gives him a flashback with his daughter, where they talk about Mary’s relationship issues. Nick agrees to talk to the parents of her boyfriend to make things better for her.

The final move takes him back to his son, who’s having issues with bullies at school. He tells him he should stand up to them and continue to fight for himself first. It ends with Tom starting to clean his messy room.

Checkmate! Nick wins the game and the man in white wishes him happiness in his life moving forward. He wakes up from his concussion in real life and hugs his entire family, telling them he knows where their family relations went wrong.
