A wellspring of creativity Alan enjoys a variety of artistic pursuits including writing, painting, acting & photography, all of which enrich his life as a filmmaker.

A highly trained artist and filmmaker, Alan’s keen eye for detail, color & design makes for
compositions that stir the imagination and create a dynamic experience for the viewer. His
creative vision together with his knowledge of cameras and lighting give him the ability to
bring his painterly sensibilities to his films and has earned him acclaim from peers and critics
alike.

For his work as cinematographer on the feature film ‘Radiant’, Robert Koehler of Variety Magazine wrote “...lenser Alan Ray’s work stands out...” Radiant premiered at the 2005 CineVegas film festival and garnered praise from artistic director Trevor Groth who
said the film was “...feature flmmaking at it’s most creative.” Alan recently won an
outstanding achievement award at the 2012 LAwebfest for his cinematography on the
‘RED ROVER’ web series.

Alan’s years of combined experience as an actor and a director of photography, along with his many years spent as a visual artist, make him an extraordinarily well rounded director with excellent creative instincts and an intimate knowledge of both sides of the camera.
