SYNOPSIS:

Australian men are signing up for world war one, but Albert, an idealist writer, says he will not fight Britain's wars. His brother Eddie, Eddie's girlfriend Kathleen, and even Albert's wheelchair-bound girlfriend Henrietta accuse him of cowardice. Kathleen is secretly in love with Albert. Someone sends him a white feather - he believes it's Henrietta. He goes to war and gets blinded. Kathleen marries him and he becomes a great writer. He never sees Henrietta again. But there are twists to this story.
