SYNOPSIS:

(Small Town News is intended to be an hour long television show) After graduating from the prestigious New York City College of Broadcast Journalism, Marvin Reynolds and Victoria Wyler expected to find themselves basking in the riches and glamour of a Big-City Network News station. But when only one station offered to hire them, WSTN-TV in Payton, Georgia, what they got instead was a small Southern town, a dilapidated affiliate and a life they’d only seen on T.V. Finding themselves immersed in a strange world of minor league baseball, pulled-pork sandwiches and double-wides, Marvin and Victoria quickly learn that life in the South is not at all what they had in mind. Things only get worse for them when their first day on the job turns out to be having to report on the worst flood to hit the South in a century. Although completely unprepared to handle the enormity of the job, Marvin and Victoria, with the help of their often similarly displaced, albeit better adapted co-workers, learn to overcome their professional shortcomings and rise to the occasion. When the flood-waters finally recede, they discover life in the small town really is pretty cool and that they’re going to be just fine after all.
