VAMPIRES OF THE NORTH END

VAMPIRES OF THE NORTH END
By Lisa Penner Dang

GENRE: Comedy, Romance
LOGLINE:

A modern-day, curvy vampire falls in love with a K-Pop singer all while trying to catch the Great Molasses serial killer in Boston's Little Italy.

SYNOPSIS:

Vampires of the North End is a Dark Rom-Com, Dramedy, Horror script written along the lines of the Sopranos and Cheers.

The story opens with a bizarre murder on Salem St. A serial killer is killing off the residents of the neighborhood putting his own sick twist on “The Great Molasses Flood of 1919”. The Molasses Killer is draining the blood from his victims and filling their bodies with molasses. The serial killer is planning 21 killings in the hood.

Gia is the only daughter of the Mancinis. She is also the only member of the family that is not aware she’s a vampire. Before her 21st birthday, she must complete her first kill. She is starting her career as a social worker for child services. Gia’s character will grow the most as she gains confidence in choosing her victims and kills with a purpose. She accidentally meets Tokyo Oslo a half Japanese, half Norwegian K-Pop Star, and the two have a whirlwind romance.

In the pilot episode, we get to know the quirky Mancini family. The Mancinis have lived in Boston’s North End for hundreds of years. Leslie Mancini is the head vampire of the household. He runs a gelato shop called: 88 Flavors & Counting. All of the flavors are named after people. Leslie is the biggest Red Sox fan in Boston. He wears Red Sox branded clothing all year long. They are eco-friendly and care about the carbon footprint we are leaving.

Beni Mancini is the mother vampire, eternally going through menopause. She is a real estate broker/investor who specializes in flipping “zombie houses”.

Willy Mancini is the brother vampire who aspires to make it big as a movie director. He is working on his first low-budget zombie movie called: “Freedom Trail Zombies”. His friends Loto, Parvankin, and Jedda are the actors in his movie.

The Mancinis are fiercely protective of their neighborhood and are not about to let a serial killer keep knocking off residents of the North End. They must take back the neighborhood and catch the killer.

I believe this would appeal to a wide range of audiences. This is not your traditional vampire series. We have a serial killer on the loose, food porn, and baseball. I think it would have the same appeal as “Stranger Things” with the right cast. I first wrote this as a feature script. I have a treatment for the TV Pilot available.
