RESIST
By Simon O'Corra

GENRE: Historical
LOGLINE:

In Nazi occupied Amsterdam, Isaac, a Jew, who is a committed leader of an all child cell of the Resistance, is being provoked by Isa, another cell member and a murderous anti-semite. Isa engages with Salvia, a partisan to help her to destroy Isaac, which she does in coercing him to go willingly on a mission, which spells his and her doom, but thanks to his sacrifice and Salvia’s kindness, all but one of the remaining cell members are saved.

SYNOPSIS:

A group of child resistance workers are holed up in a bombed out basement of a building in Amsterdam, tensions are running high as two of the children vie for leadership of the group. A Spanish Civil War refugee now a partisan in the Netherlands is recruited by one of the two protagonists to convince others in the group to defect. No one suspects the lengths to which this teenage girl will got to achieve power. A gripping and gruelling feature with images of suicide and murder.

Interesting concept. If this is shot for 75% or more at one location you can keep it under 3 mil or even less. Question.Who should these children defect from if they work for the resistance?

Phil Clarke

As a logline, this is a little on the thin side. Think of it as a marketing tool, a one-line elevator pitch. To this end, it would behove you to tantalise and titillate a little more to get the reader/listener salivating. Remember - they're coming cold to your story, so it's up to you to truly sell it. Consequently, I would dig deeper into the story with this logline. Focus on a lead, if you have one, convey a clear goal and who or what stands in the way of this goal.

If you'd like some help with creating a better logline, do by all means get in touch. Some time ago I put together a help-sheet for my clients that I would be happy to send you.

(Amsterdam, 194?.) An anti-Semitic teenage girl, hungry to grasp the leadership of a Dutch Resistance cell from a pre-teenage Jewish boy, attempts to orchestrate a violent coup.

The concept is interesting because of the two protagonist's being United in their opposition to the Nazis, but opposed on the issue of anti-Semitism. Their conflict is more interesting because they're pulled together, and pushed apart, at the same time.
