About Tyler

If you're looking for screenwriter and/or actor that loves to be dramatic, then, unfortunately, I am not your guy. Sorry.

But if you like blurring lines between genres and want some silliness in your life... I'll be there.

Hello, my name is Tyler VanHolsbeck. I have been writing and acting since my high school days in Southern California. At first, my main priority was acting. I was a member of ensemble and side characters for various shows including Oklahoma, Dracula, and most recently Elf. My biggest role I had the joy of performing was LeFou in Beauty and the Beast.

Now, I'm more focused on breaking into the industry through writing. I still have a deep love for acting, but I have also had a love for storytelling. One of my friends and would always try to think of various film ideas and stories to tell whenever we visited Disneyland.

Throughout the years, I have written a few things that have been performed, but not on some grand stage with a paying audience. I wrote for the children's ministry at my home church. I wrote a couple of skits for the weekend sketches and a couple of VBS (or vacation bible school) skits as well.

Lately, I have been trying to hone my craft and get more educated about screenwriting. Quick shout-out to Scriptnotes for being an awesome podcast. I have applied for the Nickelodeon Writing Program twice now, but did not qualify. I know. I'm barely even getting started on the mountain of rejections coming way.

I do have a couple of ideas for both features and television in various phases of development. Currently, I am working on a sitcom set within the world of a treasure hunting adventure that I'm very excited about and would love to get produced some time down the road.

Some other random factoids:

I love adventure movies (hence the setting of the sitcom).
I am a complete goofball.
I have an amazing, supportive wife that will one day be my screenwriting partner in crime.
I have a movie review blog and the link is below.

I think that's about it. I know this might be a bit of an unconventional bio, but I wanted to show off a little bit of my personality. I am very excited to get know all of you in this awesome community.
