Elana Grushka

Elana Grushka is an American-Israeli screenwriter, specializing in comedy. Elana was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Jerusalem, Israel. Like all Israelis, she joined the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) at 18. Based on careful screening, the IDF decided she would best serve her country by... acting in an improv theater troupe! Following her service, Elana moved on to become one of the leading sound editors in Israel, editing and mixing hundreds of projects and winning an Israeli Academy Award for her work on the film "Walk On Water". One night, at 2AM, half asleep in the studio, an idea came to her and she thought "Wow, that would make a great movie!". At that moment she decided to ditch sound and move into writing and content development. Elana's great passion is comedy and she was one of the writers on the Israeli sitcom "Echad Ha'am Echad" (try saying that 10 times quickly) that achieved cult status in the country. She has received development grants from the Israeli "New Film Fund" and "The Gili Patir Development Fund". In addition, she has written and edited series for The History Channel, E! and has held content development positions in leading television broadcasters. In her spare time. Elana writes prose, builds Lego with her younger son and has three television series in various stages of development. Most recently, Elana was a finalist in the Imagine Impact X Netflix program.
