Rachelle Chartrand has been involved in the film industry for over fifteen years, first as the creative producer of numerous short films, then as president of Women in Film and Television Vancouver and now as an award-winning screenwriter and producer. In 2018, Rachelle launched her own production company, My Precious Pictures, Inc., which produces socially charged genre films and series.
Her first feature, the Telefilm-supported CHAINED, written and directed by Titus Heckel, had its World Premiere at the 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival. The film, a psychological crime thriller that explores toxic masculinity and the cycle of abuse, stars genre favourite Aleks Paunovic (VAN HELSING, SNOWPIERCER), rising star Marlon Kazadi (CHILD’S PLAY, GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE) and CSA award-winning actor Adrian Holmes (V-WARS, 19-2). Awards and accolades achieved so far include winning the Telefilm sponsored JETS Program, an international coproduction and pitching competition held during the Berlinale (2018), and placing as a semi-finalist in the 2018 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. The project received development funding from the Harold Greenberg Fund and Creative BC, and has broadcast deals with Super Channel and Hollywood Suite.
Rachelle was a producer on DOWNLOADED, a VR narrative short directed by Ollie Rankin and starring Tiera Skovbye (NURSES, RIVERDALE), which had its world premiere at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, the first BC made project to ever be accepted, and was listed on Forbes' 2019 "Top 50 XR Experiences".
Theory of Evelyn, a TV Series she co-created with Titus Heckel, is in development with Sepia Films and is a recipient of the highly competitive 2020 Creative BC/CMF Regional Predevelopment Program. The pilot episode “Black F*#King Holes” was a Quarter-finalist in the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition as well as in the Script Pipeline Competition.
My Precious Pictures, Inc. has recently launched, The Ignite Universe, an innovative audience building and engagement platform, which was chosen for the highly competitive 2020 Spark Accelerator Program put on by the Banff World Media Festival. My Precious Pictures, Inc. was also chosen and recently completed Canada’s Trade Accelerator Program put on by the World Trade Centre.
Rachelle has a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a major in Physics and a minor in Math from the University of Alberta.
