When the Holy Family narrowly escapes a raid on Bethlehem, they take a perilous journey to stay ahead of Herod’s forces.
SYNOPSIS:
Nepotism, inequality, police brutality, civil unrest, this is the authoritarian world Jesus is born into. Escape to Egypt is a nail-biting tale about unyielding faith, and the lengths families will go to save the ones they love. According to Amnesty International there are 25.9 million seekers of asylum worldwide and half are children; this movie is meant to both entertain a global audience and soften their hearts to the plight of today’s refugees. When Joseph awakes from a nightmare of the terrible fate that awaits them in Egypt, he keeps it from his wife, Mary, as they fight to get their Holy Child beyond Bethlehem’s gates, across the border to Ashkelon, and then to Egypt while facing threats from man-eating lions, childish governors, venomous snakes, Roman troops, desert bandits, Herod’s own special forces, and the great Satan, Samael, the Angel of Death; truly, if they are to survive, it will take a miracle.
