About Mel

Mel House works as an actress, comedian, and is the creator of HAM (Hot Angry Mom). She tell stories, makes jokes and takes on projects to inspire empathy and build bridges. Right now she is obsessed with womxn+'s anger and figuring out how to channel it for good, so she is becoming a certified Fitzmaurice Voice coach to support womxn+ in accessing their full voices. Most recently Mel played a recurring role in the series TRACE ME, and toured internationally with The Baby Monitor--a new play about same-sex parenting. As a classically trained award-winning actress, Mel has shared the stage with Richard Easton, Michael Cerveris, Ally Sheedy, Kathryn Erbe, and was seen opposite Chad Coleman in Birdie at 2020's Berlin International Film Festival and SXSW. And is a proud member of the Actors Center Company. After producing the Off-Broadway production of Meir Ribalow’s "Shrunken Heads" at Playwrights Horizons, Mel co-founded The Drawing Board--a lab for playwrights, screenwriters and actors. She then went on to co-direct, film and edit "Break Like You," a short documentary about Hip Hop influencer and activist Emile Jansen in Cape Town, South Africa. Her digital series, HOT ANGRY MOM, was a finalist for 2019's Sundance New Voices Lab and Orchard Project's episodic lab and is currently in development.
