True story of an illegitimate young girl, who is misdiagnosed, and kept in a mental institution for 83 years. Her well-meaning psychologist, who is lured by fame and wealthy socialite contributors, tries to fix all the problems of US society, but he and his successors are pulled down a slippery slope toward a utopian fascism.
