Former President Barack Obama describes her as “a woman of great strength and character” in a letter of commendation. V.C. Rhone’s life experiences permeate her writing, directing, and producing. She is a seasoned storyteller often highlighting female-centric journeys.
She completed her undergraduate studies in Film and Television Production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and was instructed by Academy Award Winner, Carol Dysinger (Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone If You’re a Girl). She has also studied with Primetime Emmy Nominee and famed Showrunner, Jim O’Doherty (3rd Rock from the Sun, Disney’s Kickin’ It, and The Tracy Morgan Show).
Recently, her screenplay, Good Times at Mike Kelso’s, was accepted into Film Independent’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program. She is currently in post-production for Pause for Hope, a docuseries aimed at helping people affected by isolation and depression featuring a heartfelt interview with a Harvey Weinstein sexual assault survivor.
V.C. is a member of the Writers Mob and was a finalist in the Quarantine Monologues produced by 1oneninety5 Productions and Academy member, Leah Daniels Butler (Coming 2 America, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Precious, Lee Daniels’ The Butler).
Because of her passion for highlighting other creatives, she founded and directs the Huntington Beach Cultural Cinema Showcase. The showcase has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and the OC Register and features short films from underrepresented groups. Many of the films curated by V.C. have become Academy-nominated while others have made their international premieres at Sundance, Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes.
V.C. is a city-appointed official in Huntington Beach, California. She is honored to work with the Huntington Beach Police Department, the Mayor, and as Chairperson of the Huntington Beach Human Relations Task Force in using the arts as a way to promote human dignity and understanding.
As a multi-format content creator, V.C. believes in transforming the good, the bad, and the ugly into stories that shine a light on women, diversity and real life, social justice issues.
She is currently managed by GLM and has several projects in development.
