About Alison

Alison Norrington is a storyteller, writer & producer, Founder & Chief Creative Director of storycentral, a London-based entertainment studio that incubates and develops ground-breaking IP with global partners in film, television, animation, publishing, advertising, branding, theme parks, Virtual Reality and gaming.

As a Creative Director/Strategist Alison has worked on a range of intellectual properties that are founded on robust story worlds with strong core themes and have genuine and relevant touch points across a host of media channels. She specializes in storytelling that amplifies fan incubation and engagement, experience design, extending IP & franchises, community build through story and storyworld strategy, incubation & development – all centered around a strong robust core of story architecture, theme, awareness of audience and experience design.

As a Writer/Experience Designer, Alison is a best-selling novelist, playwright, journalist, story/script consultant, a PhD researcher and MA in Creative Writing & New Media. Over her 25+year career she has worked with and consulted to SundanceTV, CBS Interactive, Walt Disney Imagineering, FOX International, AMC Networks, BBC, DR (Denmark), Harlequin Mills & Boon, McCann, Coca Cola, DeBeers Group of Companies, UK Metropolitan Police Force, Schleich GmbH, F&W Media, European Broadcasting Union, Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre. She works as a writer and script consultant for film and television and she most recently was part of the huge global Xbox ‘Sea of Thieves’ Alternate Reality game ‘The Quest for the Golden Bananas’, producing the London and Berlin chapters. Alison is a development exec and writer on the Finnish animation series Studio Killers and works with Dutch Features on distribution.

As a Talent Development Exec & Trainer Alison works with emerging filmmakers and storytellers at Walt Disney Imagineering, CBS Interactive, Sundance TV, London Film School, New York Film Academy, Creative England, Singapore Media Academy & MediaCorp, Swedish talent incubator Boost HbG and Akademie für Kindermedien in Germany, with a committed focus to the exploration of new frontiers of storytelling & experience design for VR & 360 storytelling. She has conducted research for the Children’s Media Foundation, with a responsibility for appropriate content for kids with a focus on new and creative technologies and has guest-lectured and mentored students at Exeter, Falmouth, Bath and Wolverhampton Universities, International Film Schule (Cologne), Gavle University (Sweden) and USC (LA). She is a Fellow at Solent Univeristy and a guest lecturer at Exeter University.

Alison is the writer, co-founder & co-producer of Halloween anthology series Dark Detour and heads up the writers room for Studio Killers : The Series. She is writer and producer of webseries The Loedown, author of 3 bestselling novels – Class Act, Look Before You Leap and Three of a Kind and creator of the first transmedia romcom Staying Single. She has also written plays A Fish & A Bonsai and Pistols at Dawn.
Alison works with global events and partners such as Catalyst Festival, Canada Screen Awards, Festival de Television (Monaco), Children’s Media Conference, Merging Media, CMPA and CMF to create a hackathon environment with a clear and tangible brief of an existing or in-development IP with a major network or studio. Alison runs workshops, training programs and labs worldwide and is a judge for a series of global media festivals including Banff World Media Festival, International Emmy Awards, Canada Media Fund and Publishing Innovation Awards.

Alison is Conference Chair for StoryWorld Conference, Exec Producer of the Virtual Reality Thread for Children’s Media Conference, is a two-time TEDx speaker and has presented at a number of entertainment and media conferences worldwide. She is featured on the BAFTA Guru series and is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, The Writers Guild of Great Britain and Women in Film & TV.
