About Donald

Born in England, I have traveled widely, living in California, Alabama, North Carolina, Wales, and Salamanca, Spain. I am a full-time screenwriter, script doctor and consultant and have written over seventy feature scripts, three of which were filmed in 2012 (Rabid, Hope for Love, and Act Like You Love Me).

In addition to my writing and consulting, I also teach creative writing and screenwriting at SEC (South Essex College).

I am shooting my first feature film - "Stones" - with my company, Donroy Independent Films, in March 2015. At Donroy my primary focus is on scriptwriting, story development, and ensuring that the company maintains their vision to produce high quality, engaging stories on a limited budget.

"Stones" is a true life story based on the experiences of singer Alexander McKay. It has an original soundtrack brimming with salt and soul, making it an experience to be seen and heard. If you put the films Once, Crazy Heart and Leaving Las Vegas into a blender, you’d get an intoxicating movie cocktail called Stones.

The story of "Stones" begins at the point where Alex’s life begins to unravel as he struggles to come to grips with life’s tough choices. It’s a story of addiction and obsession, friendship and laughter, denial and redemption. It is a love story that grows from the trenches of booze and desperation, a film that makes it’s point with a light touch.

This is a true story, a real story, and an opportunity to give a talented musician another chance to re-launch his career. Because we all deserve one last chance to put things right, don’t we?
