About Damon

Post Production Video Editor with over 25 years experience spanning: short form promotional to long format doc, reality, and industrial. Worked with small production houses to large broadcast networks. Happy to craft story from a pile of footage or cut one from a script. Confident in my storytelling skills but also welcome the vision of others and do my best to bring all projects to a fast, solid delivery. I support local and remote editorial, have my own edit suite (Avid, Premiere Pro, and FCPX). I believe in solid communication, and a healthy dose of laughter.

Proficient in various builds of Avid (mac and pc), Final Cut Pro (7.1 and X), and Premiere Pro (Adobe Suite). Experienced with various hardware (decks, patch bays, drive arrays, et al) so if problems arise, you might find me diving behind an edit system to troubleshoot if needed. In the end, they're all tools and if they aren't working... creativity stops and that gets boring.

I use many graphics-based programs and plug-ins: After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Red Giant, Sapphire. Currently working on building DaVinci skills.

Documentary by Buena Vista Television (Crime, Documentary and Reality-TV) Assistant Editor A hybrid cold-case crime/doc/reality show featuring a team lead by published author, reporter, and cold-case bloodhound, Aphrodite Jones. Show had recreations and reality moments.
Navy SEALs: BUDS Class 234 (2000 - 2002)
Documentary by Gordon Forbes III (Reality-TV) Assistant Editor A follow-reality-doc series (6 hrs) sold to Discovery Channel that follows the recruits of BUD/s Class 234 as they embark on a grueling physical and mental journey to become a member of the most elite military group in the SOCOM community. Touted as the original Survivor series, this 6 pack rated among the top 10 for Discovery Channel for many years. It was truly ahead of its time in the vein of unscripted military bootcamp genre. Gordon Forbes III was the perfect director/producer for such a project given his intimate relationship with the SOCOM community and its top brass. Started as an AE but wore many hats in editorial including Motion Graphics for the main title, plus online editor, finishing in AVID.
FBI: Critical Incident (2001)
Documentary by Gordon Forbes III (Documentary) Assistant Editor A 3 hr pack sold to The Learning Channel, consisting of "The Railroad Killer", "Prison Riot", and "Villa Davila". Stories told through a special department within the FBI called the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG). Show featured recreations and archival footage of actual events.
